Aju Mukhopadhyay is a well known Indian Poet and Author
Aju Mukhopadhyay, a bilingual award winning poet, author and critic, writes fictions and essays too. He has authored 33 books and has received several awards from India and abroad besides other honours. He has so far published eight books of poems in English besides two in Bangla. He is a regular contributor to various magazines and e-zines in India and abroad. Besides poetry in the usual way he has been regularly writing Japanese short verses also of different types. His works are regularly published in Indian and some international journals, anthologised and translated in several international languages.
A member of the Research Board of Advisors of the American Biographical Institute and registered in the Who’s Who of Sahitya Akademi, India www.sahitya-akademi.gov.in he is member of many national literary, environmental and other institutions, he is also published as writer on animals, wildlife, Nature and Environment.
His poetry in English has been published in 24 anthologies besides 8 books where his poetry has been discussed with others. Critique on his poetry has been published in various journals and his poems in some anthologies have been variously commented on by large numbers of critics. Many of his works have been acclaimed and honoured like one of his poems remaining at the top of the list of poems in www.asianamericanpoetry.com from December 2007 for about three months and inclusion of his poem in the list of top ten recent poems by www.Poetsindia.com. His short stories too have been published in five anthologies including in “Einfach Menschlich” (Simply Human), published by the German Language Department of the University of Mumbai, where his short story has been translated in German and selected as one of the Indian Short stories. He won second short story prize in 2007 from Bangalore. A book containing papers on his short stories along with other writers and two books containing papers on his novel, “In Train” along with other writers has been published. He has contributed essays in more than 50 scholarly books.
He is published in large numbers of E-zines and participates in different websites. He regularly writes in Syndic Literary Journal (US), Creature Feature from Cyprus, Sons of Camus International Journal from Canada /Cyprus. He has written in Singapore’s International journal, Kitaab.com, Margutte (Italian), Poetas Del Mundo (Spanish), Sketchbook (US), The Seventh Quarry Swansea Poetry Magazine (UK), Best Poetry, All Poetry, Author’s Den, World Poetry Yearbook, World Poetry Society, World Haiku Anthology, and many other Indian and foreign Poetry sites.
He has participated in 37 national and international conferences and festivals of poetry, literature and environment including SAARC Sufi Festival and World Poet and Writers’ Peace Meet. Interviews on him have been published in magazines, websites and books. He has travelled across some important countries of Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
He was awarded Certificate of Competence as a Published Writer by the Writers Bureau, Manchester, UK in 2000 and awarded Best Poet of the Year-2003 by the Poets International, Bangalore, India. He was awarded the 2007 Editor’s Choice Published Poet award by the International Library of Poetry, USA and Excellence in World Poetry Award, 2009 by the International Poets Academy, Chennai. He was given second prize for one of his short stories by Bizz-Buzz, Bangalore in 2007. The American Biographical Institute selected him for American Order of Merit in 2009. Lucidity Poetry Journal from Sugar Land, USA has awarded him Certificate of Merit for his poem, “Structural Violence” in June 2011. The Editor of The Sons of Camus Writers International Journal (Edited from Canada and published from Cyprus) conferred on him for his essays in Autumn 2013: The Albert Camus Centenary Writer’s Award
From the early period of his literary career he edited /published four little magazines in Bengali. As Guest Editor he edited http://twenty20journal.com, an American Ezine for its Indian Edition; Summer Issue No.3; 2011. He is in the editorial board of some distinguished Indian magazines.
